Cloud Services FinOps Analyst

  • 11-month fixed term maternity cover (May 2025 to March 2026)
  • 30 hours/week – with full time potential (40 hours)
We are actively seeking an experienced Cloud Technician or Analyst with strong industry expertise, commercial understanding of cloud costs, and the skills to optimise cloud spend while providing financial insights to support cloud strategy and budgeting.
 

In this role, you will:

  • Leverage cloud expertise to help transform the way customers purchase, manage, and optimise IT services when adopting cloud technologies.
  • Drive growth in cloud revenues through top-tier client delivery, internal stakeholders support, cloud cost optimisation, cloud resell offerings management and continuous development.

This role is both client and internal facing. Main stakeholders include:

  • OSS Group sales people to support cloud opportunities, revenues and GP.
  • Customers on usage reporting, monthly billing, and cost optimisation initiatives.
  • Internal teams to build and maintain cloud capabilities to ensure OSS Group is working to best practice.

The successful candidate must have:

  • 2+ years of technology experience in corporate and enterprise environments.
  • 2+ years of experience in Public Cloud operations, support or design roles, preferably with entry level certifications, such as AWS CLF-C02 or Azure AZ-900.
  • Solid knowledge of Public Cloud services, commercial practices, and cloud financial tools (such as CloudHealth).
  • In-depth knowledge of preparing and reviewing contracts and invoicing.

The Cloud Services FinOps Analyst will have previous experience in Service Operations and/ or Public Cloud architecture, and will be able to demonstrate:

  • Technical Comprehension: Logical thought process, detail oriented, problem-solving skills, broad understanding of the technology landscape, maintain high level understanding of Public Cloud Platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure etc.) and best practices.
  • Analytical Mindset: This role is focused on numbers, monitoring of spend patterns and delivering business context to fiscal behaviours. Must be comfortable understanding fiscal changes in technology and, from these, providing recommendations for change.
  • Can Do Attitude: Positive attitude, able to multi-task, highly adaptable, methodical and organised working style, with a strong commitment to delivering positive outcomes and client success.
  • Communication Skills: The ability to routinely and effectively interact with customers, support teams, vendors and IT partners at all levels. Excellent verbal and written English communication.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build and maintain relationships with business stakeholders. Ability to operate astutely in customer environments.
  • Leadership: Will take responsibility/ ownership where needed.
  • Team Player: Self-motivated, self-managing. Ability to work under pressure, contribute to the OSS Group culture of team success, able to work both independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Sensitive Information: Maintain the highest levels of integrity and personal discipline to ensure information is treated accordingly and never distributed outside of the applicable audience.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally – primarily between Auckland and/ or Wellington offices
